J P: Associate team member:

Is an ex traffic officer  who served between 1966 and 1996 in traffic and then to a highly prestigious & demanding post as a surveillance Motorcyclist. He was also a police accident investigator.

J started his police career at 18years in 1966, joining the Cadets and passed out of there as best cadet in his course. He passed his Traffic Division Board in 1969 and completed a Standard Motorcycle Course in 1969 leaving as top student on the course.

J joined Traffic as the first youngest traffic officer. In 1970 he completed a Standard Traffic Patrol Course but slipped to second place when completed. The same year he took a standard car course and passed out top student on the course.

In 1972 he took an intermediate car course with a pass as a Class 3 driver and top student on the course.

In 1976 He took an Advanced Car course and passed as a Class 1 driver and top student on the course. He was invited to become an instructor but declined ( He loved traffic duties too much). The same year he took an HGV course and passed as a HGV 3 driver.

In 1977 J took an advanced traffic Patrol Course and passed as a vehicle examiner and was top student on the course.

In 1979 As J puts it:  ‘I had a moment of insanity and passed an interview to become a surveillance motorcyclist’ He declined the invitation to join at the end of a 6 months trial attachment  because, as a new father, the arduous hours away would not have been good for a family man.

J continued as a Traffic Officer until in 1986 when he joined as a surveillance motorcyclist in a newly formed surveillance team and remained with this team until retirement in 1996.

J maintains a keen interest in all matters involving traffic especially motorcycles, and his pet hates? The gradual erosion of the traffic police the introduction of civilian departments running our highways and the introduction of camera surveillance as the answer to road safety.

Clearly J is well qualified to comment on most traffic matters-especially regarding the use of motorcycles- including recent legislation coming out of the EU. He is a member of MAG and keeps on top of rules and regulations imported to the UK and originated by faceless unelected members of the European parliament.

We are so pleased to have J on board.
