It comes as no surprise to us that the Road Safety Foundation, another inexpert road safety charity, is spouting negativity about the proposals to increase motorway limits to 80 MPH                                                   ; that is the raison de'tre of these predictable Gravy Train lobby groups. Had we published it, then it really would be something to consider.

We are not and never have been, concerned about the existing motorway limits and neither have we called for an increase. That is because we have been far more concerned with other faulty speed limiting at the bottom range, which not only fail to address the real accident causes,  wrongly penalises hundreds of thousands of perfectly safe drivers, feeds the profiteers and costs the economy a fortune while doing so.

This 80 MPH proposal has deflected from 1000s of speed limit decreases and the power given to local authorities to introduce blanket 20 MPH areas too. So this group is not being distracted from all that by the motorway limit debate; it's a red herring.
