Jail for causing death by careless driving, parked up and somewhere else.
When our MPs discussed and formed the recent imprisonable offence of Causing Death by Careless Driving, did they really intend for it to be applied to drivers who were'nt even driving? No? We don't think so either. Now read this story and be afraid.
Had the other driver crashed into a cyclist instead, wouldn't he have been at fault?
We are not asking if this driver should not have been prosecuted for 1) Dangerous Parking & 2) Quitting the vehicle with the engine running.
We are concerned about the precendent of death by careless driving when not behind the wheel and so a jail term.
No war on drivers? Who decided to give this a run at public expense? And whatever happened to drive to the distance you can see to be clear & not to drive when dazzled?
